The Commissioner of the Somali National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mohamuud Maallin Abdulle, held a productive meeting today with the Somali Scholars Association, led by Chairman Sheikh Aadan Maalin Sugow, Vice Chairman Sheikh Bashiir Ahmed Salaad, and Sheekh Maxamuud Abdulbaari.
The meeting focused on the ongoing drought crisis in Somalia and explored ways religious leaders can play a visible role in community awareness, mutual support, and participation in humanitarian relief efforts. Chairman Abdulle urged the scholars to lead initiatives that promote public solidarity and encourage widespread rain-seeking campaigns, emphasizing the severity of the drought affecting many parts of the country.
Sheikh Sugow affirmed that Somali religious leaders are ready to intensify public awareness campaigns and support emergency relief delivery to communities in critical need. He highlighted the commitment of Somali scholars to participate actively in humanitarian assistance and the prevention of crises affecting vulnerable populations.
