The Head of Security for Benaadir Regional Administration Headquarters, Cabdihafid Mohamed Hirsi, survived an assassination attempt on Saturday evening after a roadside bomb targeted his vehicle while he was passing through the Wajeer area of Karaan District.
The explosion, which was heard across several parts of Mogadishu, occurred as the security chief was leaving work and heading to his neighborhood. Speaking to SBC media, Cabdihafid Mohamed Hirsi confirmed that he survived from the attack.
He mentioned that two of his bodyguards were wounded in the explosion, while one civilian who was passing along the road was murdered.
Police and National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) forces from the Benaadir region soon arrived at the scene, sealed off nearby roads, and conducted security operations to ensure public safety.
Furthermore, the militant group Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack, saying it had targeted a senior security official of the Federal Government of Somalia.
