(SBC News Desk- 23. April. 2011) At least 5 people, mostly fighters have been killed and more than 11 others injured in heavy clashes between pro-government Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jamaa and Al-Shabaab insurgent group in a central Somali Town of Dhusamabareeb.
The fighting broke out on Saturday morning and continued into late afternoun in Dhusamareb central town of Somali region Galgadud region where the two sides engaged on heavy gun battle.
Residents confirmed to SBC that Al-Shabaab fighters took the control of the town, while Ahlu Sunnah Wal Jamaa fighters were forced away from the town. The two militant groups have been fighting each other for months for control of this region.
Witnesses told the SBC they had seen heavily armed al-Shabab fighters patrolling the town centre in trucks.
The clashes destroyed residential buildings and forced dozens of residents to leave the town and seek save outside from fighting area, witnesses said.
