Since 1991 after the collapse of last Government in Somalia Puntland Regions previously know as north eastern Somalia have been enjoying Peace and stability because of this, the Regions have attracted more People who are either interlay displaced people who were originally belonging to these regions and thus as insecurity in other parts of Somalia was spreading population rate of this increasingly doubling.

In Relation to the above events the need for media specially electronic one was highly enlarging and taking advantage of this, a well Knows business man know as Ali Abdi Aware with the help of his colleagues and consultant has decided to invest this vacuum.

Somali Broadcasting Corporation SBC is group of Media that operates in Puntland in particular three main cities know as Bossaso, Gardo and Garowe .

SBC's broadcasting area of converge is estimated 1000 Km square and this is facilitated by our three stations in the above said Towns.

SBC was established in 2001 June and its first FM Radio established in Puntland regions and also it was the first FM Radio which can be heard three Cities in Somalia, on that developed System SBC gained a lot of high number of listeners in all areas that it operates and it enjoys remarkable credibility in both authority and community.

On that year 2001, November Somali broadcasting Corporation established First TV in Puntland which is now on air for test, and it will go on air completely at the end of November.

On That Year 2001 SBC has achieved to contract with BBC Somali Service in order to broadcast their transmission thought the FM Radio for better hearing and as stated in that contract 2004 SBC started airing Arabic and English Programs of BBC World Service SBC Radio has also managed to create collaborations with the International Organizations, already a number of UN Organizations including UNICEF, UNESCO, WHO, IRIN, have their programs aired. In same like other International Organization such as Care International, Save the Children, and other Local NGO's All these Organizations had their Programs aired by SBC such as HIV/Aids, FGM, Sanitation, Education e t c.

In respect of current situation in Somalia and demand of information in this World SBC Mission can be summarized as:

Speeding free and fair information to the listeners of whole Puntland , Somalia and neighbors countries

Raising awareness in the community in all aspects of social sectors including Healthy, education, and peace building.

Giving fair confident ional access to all ranks so as to share opinions and ideas.

Promoting both small and large-scale business by advisements

Creating interaction among the war divided people of Somalia

SBC broadcasts three main stations in Boosaaso, FM 89.0 MHZ, 10.4 MHZ, Garowe Studio FM 88.7 MHZ Gardo Studio FM 88.7 MHZ, Audio and text website www.sbconline.net/www.allsbc.com , and there also SBC TV which covers Bosaso and its area.

SBC Radio works 15 Hours per day and it's the most respect and Trustfull Media in Puntland and even Somali Speaking Media.
